A Nice Saturday
It's been one of the most pleasant Saturdays of the year, weather-wise, so I was happy to spend it with with family and friends. We were in a park chilling. The park was relatively busy, understandably, because of the time of the year ; Easter holidays and that - bank holiday weekend here in the UK.
We are still waiting for the predicted cold weather. I went to buy some stuff for the garden and got into a conversation with someone on the queue. They were bemoaning the cost of living and said they were preparing to emigrate from the UK because life has become unbearably expensive. I noticed there'd been a 50% inflation in the price of coffee which used to cost £2, but now £3, which is a lot!
"Thailand!". He was happy to announce that that's where he's going. He's got family there apparently. That makes it easier I guess. I hope things get better soon and the austerity eases off a bit. The the current situation is unsustainable in the long term. Perhaps it is we who need to change. That is to say, lower our standard of living to match the new global reality.
Peace & Love,
