Las Vegas Judge Susan Johnson now states that she wanted to " invoke some humor " in the court by asking several felons to vote for Trump in the next election.
Susan Johnson was quoted saying she didn't think anyone in the court or appearing before her wouldn't take it as anything more than a joke. With so much going on in the world, and all the hate that is being interpreted by a grand majority of Americans, you would think to know better.
Now, whether you're for the left or the right, it should make no difference in this story. This is a woman who sits in an very important seat and holds a lot of power doing so. I personally believe that it wasn't meant as humor and strongly believe she was fully aware of what she was doing.
Like I stated earlier, Judge Susan Johnson thought no one would find this alarming or offensive but many defense attorneys came forth with major concerns. As an defense attorney I fully understand how this could be troublesome. Jeff Scheid from the Nevada Independent wrote the following in his article...
Joel Mann, a criminal defense attorney who represented one of defendants told by Johnson that he could vote for Trump if he completed probation, said in an email Wednesday that he did not interpret the judge’s comments to be a joke during the proceedings.
“I did not take her comments at the time as a joke,” he said in an email. “I was shocked about what I was hearing and couldn’t believe she said that.”
