Fourth of July or Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I mean what's not to like. It's the day millions of Americans spend all day drinking alcohol and cooking meat over an open fire, then at night, when the lights go down and everyone is nicely inebriated, we start playing with explosives...
I mean, what could possible go wrong?
BEST HOLIDAY EVER! 🤣
So I spent the day with the family cooking on the grill and drinking vodka drinks. It was hot and humid, but there wasn't a lot of smog from the Canadian fires and we had a nice sunny day with clear skies at night.
Each year we do a fireworks display either in front of our house or in the backyard. I usually take a motorcycle trip up to Pennsylvania because they have better fireworks than what's sold locally. With all the smog from the fires and the weird weather, I decided to buy locally this season.
NY state allows ground fountains. The general rule of thumb is that they can't fly up in the air higher than 10 feet or something like that. I'm not a lawyer, so don't quote me on that. The local companies generally sell the quieter ones though. I personally like the louder ones. These actually weren't too bad though. All purchased at local stores.
Here's some images of this years fireworks display. These were taken by my cousin using her Iphone. IDK what model it is, knowing her, it's probably the latest one.
I use the liter box pale to store the empty cartridges after they've been blown off. They're still really hot after they go off.
So many sparkles! I light them in a metal firepit to keep them contained, and also makes the clean up super simple.
I personally love the fountains. They seem like the safest option and they put on a nice mini display. Perfect for the backyard in a city.
This one was pretty cool. Some were a little bigger than others.
I think this was one of the grand finale cakes.
I started out with the small ones and kept lighting bigger and bigger cakes.
Usually I get several cakes, but the prices locally are always higher. So I was a bit frugal in my assortment this year. I normally get twice as much for the same amount of money shopping in Pennsylvania. It's really worth the trip and it's only a couple hours away. Fun motorcycle ride for sure and gives me an excuse for a nice ride. Kind of disappointed that I spaced it this year.
I believe this was the big finale cake.
Every so often you get one with a little extra oomf. This one was really cool.
I can't believe how well her camera captured these images. Everyone had a great time. The entire neighborhood was lit up with fireworks until about 1 AM. Probably one of the most active Independence Days I can remember... EVER. Next to the Covid Fourth of July. After that debacle, I don't think they'll ever cancel the county fireworks displays again. 🤣 Everyone gave them a giant FU and were lighting off commercial fireworks in there backyard in protest LMAO! Seriously though, it was actually a little scary that year. Surprisingly there weren't a lot of "incidents".
Although these look great in the photos, I think next year I'll plan another trip to Pennsylvania. They just have a better assortment, and the prices are always much better as well. They have two distribution centers for Phantom, and other brands right on the NY/PA border. The prices are awesome. You literally get the best bang for your buck there! LOL
Hope you had a wonderful 4th if you celebrated! Cheers from smoggy Buffalo NY!
