Hello Hivers, as many of you know, when Justin Sun mounted the hostile takeover of the Steem blockchain (which led to the creation of the Hive blockchain) the core developers of Steem set their sights on building Koinos; an evolving platform for free-to-use dApps. The goal was to take the user experience of Hive to the next level by enabling entirely FREE-TO-USE dApps and bring that user experience to an infinite variety of dApps from games to DeFi, to those we cannot yet imagine.
On November the 5th--a very meaningful date to us--we launched Koinos main net. As you can see in the video below, that launch was so smooth it was practically boring.

Closed, opaque, and centralized solutions leverage their secrecy and power to extract wealth from the people and then socialize their losses when they inevitably collapse. We built Koinos because we believe that the socio-economic system is broken and that it needs to be more open, transparent, and decentralized. But we know that the system won’t just change willingly. It must be pushed into the future and in order to do that, to exert that level of pressure, what we need is a really big LEVER. As Archimedes said,
“Give me a lever long enough … and I shall move the world.”
Koinos is the longest lever we could imagine, built to move the world in a more open, transparent, and decentralized direction. While we have been inspired by Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Anonymous, we are not Satoshi Nakamoto and we are not Anonymous, we are Koinos Group.
Hive is a critical piece of our story. Not only do we share a common origin, but many of our community members and developers come from Hive and are still actively involved in the Hive community. Koinos is not a competitor to Hive, it is just another tool--albeit a very powerful tool--to help developers build and scale incredible decentralized applications with insanely great user experiences.
