왜 한 눈 파는 시간이 중요한가?
Why important the power of time of to do other things?
우리 몸에서도 자주 사용하는 근육이 더욱 단단해지고, 사용이 적은 근육은 약해지는 것처럼 어떤 경험과 생각, 행동을 반복하느냐에 따라 시냅스가 새롭게 생겨나고 반대로 사라지기도 합니다.
(Frequently used muscles become stronger, and unsed muscles become weaker. Depending on what experiences, thoughts and actions are repeated, new synapses are created. On the contrary, that disappear.)
한 때 인간의 뇌는 일정 시기가 지나면 더는 새로운 시냅스가 만들어지지 않고, 어느 시기까지 만들어진 것을 죽을 때까지 활용하며 살아간다고 믿었지만, 뇌는 평생 새롭게 시냅스를 구축과 보완 한다는 것을 밝혀냈습니다.
(Once upon a time, the human brain believed that a new synapse would not be created until a certain period of time and believed that was used until death. But, it turns out that the brain builds and complements new synapses throughout the lifetime.)
이 처럼, 익숙한 일 말고 낯설고 어설픈 일을 하게 되면 기존의 경험과 새로운 경험이 합쳐서 또 다른 시냅스를 만들게 됩니다.

한눈팔수 있는 3가지 방법
(Three ways to be immersive.)
1. 매주 도전하는 과제 또는 미션을 부여하여 꾸준히 즐기자
(Give each week a challenge or mission so you can enjoy it steadily.)
- 게임을 하듯 일종의 미션이라 생각하고 성공 여부를 표시합니다. 한눈파는 우물을 그저 심심풀이가 아니라 나에게 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 우물로 발전시키기 위해서는 꾸준함이 필요합니다.
(Think of it as a kind of mission and mark success. You need consistency to develop that has a positive effect on you.)
2. 우물을 즐기는 나만의 철학과 방법을 만들자
(Make your own philosohy and method.)
- 정답이 아닐지라도, 소박하지만 자신만의 방법으로 즐거움을 만끽하는 사람들. 일 외의 다른 우물을 팔 때 이런 자세가 필요핮니다. 당신이 한눈파는 우물은 애초에 만들어져 있었던 것도 아니고, 누군가 당신을 대신해 만들어 놓은 것도 아닙니다. 바로 당신이 만드는 것 입니다.

3. 나만의 콘텐츠를 만든다.
(Make your own content.)
- 누구나 덕후가 될 수 있습니다. 덕후 기질은 누구에게나 내재되어 있지만 스스로 그것을 발견하느냐 못하느냐에 따라 달라지기 때문입니다. 자신의 시간과 열정, 돈을 투자할 만한 가리가 있는지 이것 저것 잴 필요없이 일단 시작하세요.
(It is inherent to anyone, but it depends on whether you find it or not. So, don't wait too long to start.)
한눈팔기를 방해하는 요소는 무엇인가?
(Disturbing elements.)
1. 주변의 시선
(Always conscious of the eyes of others around.)
- 우리는 다른 사람의 시선을 의식해 어떤 행동을 시도하기도 전에 포기하거나 머뭇거립니다. 이에대해 오프라 윈프리는 이렇게 말했습니다.
"제가 인생에서 겪었던 고통의 하나하나가 '다른 사람들이 나를 어떻게 생각할까?' 라며 혼자 걱정한데서 온 결과라는 것을 이제는 알고 있어요."
(We are consious if the gaze of others and give up or hesitate before attempting ant action. Opra Winfrey said, "I now know that each of the sufferings, I've had in my life is the result of worrying alone about what do other people think of me.")
2. 완벽주의 (Perfectionism.)
- 계획한 대로 진행되지 않으면 크게 당황하는 사람들이 있습니다. 또한 계획대로 상황 또는 과정이 세팅되지 않고 부족하다고 느껴지면 시작을 위한 첫발조차도 떼기가 힘든 사람들이 있습니다. 아무것도 하지 않으면, 결국 아무것도 바뀌지 않습니다. 그리고 뭐든 처음부터 완벽할 수 없습니다. 고민은 적게하고 좀 부족할지라도 일단 시작해보면 새로운 아이디어 또는 잘해보고 싶은 마음이 더해져 점차 수정, 보완이 이루어집니다. 결국 처음보다 더 좋은 결과물로 발전할 것입니다.
(If you do not proceed as planned, you will be greatly upset. Also, if you feel that the situation or process is not set up as planned and you are not satisfied, it is difficult to get started even for the first time. If you do nothing, eventually nothing changes. And anything can not be perfect from the beginning. Even if you have a little trouble and little lack, once you start, new ideas or desire to do well will be added and it will be corrected and supplemented gradually. In the end, it will develop better results than the first.)
3. 시간이 없다는 핑계
(An excuse that there in no time.)
- 벤저민 프팽클린의 시간에 대한 인상 깊은 메시지가 있습니다.
"그대는 인생을 사랑하는가? 그렇다면 시간을 낭비하지 말라. 시간은 인생을 이루는 재료이기 때문이다."
중점을 두고있는 한 우물에서는 물론 한눈파는 시간 역시 목표를 세우고 매일 시간을 관리해야 합니다. 하루 스케줄을 수정, 보완하고 실행, 피드백 하는 과정을 잘 관리하다 보면 더는 시간 때문에 하고 싶은 일을 못했다는 핑계를 대진 않게 될 것입니다.
(There is an impressive message about the time of Benjamin Franklin. "Do you love life? Then do not waste your time. Time id the material of life." If you manage the process of correcting, supplementing, running, and feedback the daily schedule, you will not be excused that you have failed to do what you want because of the time.)
한눈팔기 위해서는 우선 '나' 자신에게 집중해야 합니다. 마음의 소리를 듣지않고 무작정 남이 좋다고 얘기하는 우물 또는 사회적 시선을 의식해 아무 우물에 달려들다가는 괜히 대충 한두 번 파다가만 우물들만 잔뜩 생기거나, 스트레스를 받기도 하고 실망만 할 수 있습니다.
(To do other things, you need to focus on yourself. If you do not listen to your heart and follow the work of someone else, you become stressed or disappinted.)
꼭 한번 해보고 싶고 성공이나 자기계발이 아닌 오직 자기만족과 재미를 불러일으키는 것, 지금 당장 하고 싶은 취미, 직업, 어떤 것이든 다 괜찮습니다.
(Do what you want to do? Whatever it is, it's good to have fun and enjoy yourself.)
대신 너무 성급하게, 지금 당장 대단한 변화나 결과가 있어야 한다는 생각은 버려야 합니다. 계속 내면의 나와 대화를 나누면서 과정을 즐기다 보면 그 시간 동안 자신에 대한 생각이 꼬리에 꼬리를물어 분명 자신도 몰랐던 자아와 만나게 될 것입니다.
