I wake up at 7 am. Not to the sound of the alarm, but to the soft morning light coming through the window of the house, my eyes open on their own. I spend some time rolling around in bed, then slowly get up. I freshen up, and then what is my favorite part of the morning — eating khichuri. The smell of hot khichuri seems to give me enough energy to start the day. Sometimes fried eggs, sometimes stuffed with potatoes, together with khichuri, a complete morning is created.
After eating and drinking, I sit at the reading table. I slowly settle my mind with my eyes on the pages of the book. Sometimes Bengali literature, sometimes English grammar, sometimes math or science — the topics change according to the time, but I try to pay continuous attention. This time can be said to be my most productive part. There is silence all around, and I am immersed in the world of books.
When noon rolls around, I close the book. Now it is time to take a bath. I get a refreshing feeling with the touch of cold water. My body feels light. Then I sit down to eat — I have white rice, fried or stewed fish on the side. Sometimes, there is green chili or a little lemon, which is an added pleasure. After lunch, I rest for a while. Then I go back to the table to study.
My mind becomes a little restless in the afternoon. My mind cannot focus on the book. Then I go outside and take a walk. I stand on the street and look at the sky, and I like to see the light and shadow play on the leaves of the trees. Today, there are light clouds in the sky and a cool breeze. It feels as if nature has become a close friend of mine. While walking, I have a few conversations with my neighbors, and I also get lost in my own thoughts.
I return home in the evening. I rest a little and finish my dinner. After eating, I don't delay any longer, I go straight to the table to study. Reading at night is important to me — because then the surroundings are completely quiet. My mind becomes deep, my thoughts are clear. Even though I feel tired sometimes, I try to maintain my routine.
This is how my day passes. Even though it is very simple, the beauty of life is hidden in each of these small moments. Even though every day is the same routine, every day's experience is different. And those experiences become the pages of my diary.
