Often, a treasure isn't just a trunk full of money or precious jewelry; it can also be a valuable gift. In my case, this sewing machine belonged to my mother. She died three years ago. My sister decided to give it to me since she doesn't know how to sew, and I know a lot about machines, since it was my own mother who taught me how to sew and make patterns.
I haven't had a sewing machine for a while, and I think it's essential to have one in the house for mending clothes that are coming unstitched or for making a piece for your wardrobe. I have some clothes that need mending, so I'll get to work on it soon.
This machine means a lot to me because it brings back memories of when I would visit her house and find her sewing a garment. For her, this was more than a business, it was entertainment. She never sewed for other people, only for the home and if a family member asked her to mend something.
For me, it's more of a sentimental thing. I see it as the inheritance she left me because she thought of me. I'm sure she would have wanted it that way. I hope to have posts of my sewing soon.
This is my entry to the @ladiesofhive community contest with the question: 2️⃣ Some things we own may not look like much to others, but to us they mean the world. Do you have something like that in your possession that holds deep meaning, even if it's not worth much on the surface? What makes it so special to you? I hope you participate through the link:
