I am currently residing at the old Fort Lyon Main Complex, just outside the small town of Las Animas, CO. Fort Lyon used to be an old Naval Hospital, Mental Institution, Prison and other things.
It is now called a "Supportive Community." Fort Lyon is now administered by the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. Funding comes from the State of Colorado as well as private donations.
The "supportive community" environment here is perfect for recovering addicts and alcoholics to have up to two years of residence to give them a safe place to attend groups, or meetings, attend therapy and just generally try to get it together.
This program is great because nothing here is mandatory, everything is voluntary. Lots of different 12 step, cognitive and religious programs, groups, etc are offered here. Other activities include extensive creativity rooms, libraries, computers, etc. Lots to do here. They will even give you a bike to check out and keep and ride whenever, wherever you want!
The Program is completely free, offered mostly to the chronically homeless. Which I was. This place has done so much for so many of us, who really felt abandoned, forgotten and dissatisfied with our lives.

I will also be uploading all my (almost) daily video logs. The purpose of the video logs being public is to allow my friends, family and the public at large to become more aware of the pervasive and deepening problems with drug and alcohol addition coupled with the unmanageable and destructive lives that brings.
