at around 7:37 this guy's 2kw laser burned through a brick in 10 milliseconds
if i had an od10 goggle rated for that wavelength, would it burn a hole right through in 10 milliseconds or would it be able so stop the beam long enough so i can get it away from my eyes?
ive also seen videos of people using such lasers without eye protection
i heard that looking at the impact point of such powerful lasers will damage your eyes
they didnt show signs of their eyes being hurt
Those people are very likely getting they’re vision slowly peppered with blind spots as they use the laser. Up to a point the brain will compensate for that and fill in the spots.
So you might see them after using the laser but they disappear with time.
This only works up to a point tho and when you pass that your retina is so damaged that the brain can’t compensate for it.
If they get a direct hit it it would ofc be game over instantly. Also some materials might create more harmful reflections than others, varying how fast your eyes are completely fucked.
I should note that this is what I imagine it to be, but I am no expert, so the outcome might be different.
But I can guarantee you that the risk for damage is very high when using such a laser without protection.
