Governments of many Countries are trying to create new laws to regulate the Internet but should we instead have the Internet treated as a legal entity, like a Country, that can effectively regulate itself under International Law (with an international commission representing people from around the World as well as National Governments)?
The Internet is a complex system that could be kept neutral and open, but without being used as a political tool to stifle opposition's right to free speech. If there was legislation created by an International Commission for Cyberspace Regulation how would the representatives be chosen? National organisations created that anyone can join, for free, and elect a representative from that organisation for the purpose of representing all of the people?
I don't want to see censorship destroy something that could have been incredible, the Internet should be kept free of corrupt politicians and those who only want to use it as a weapon.
