Businesses in multiple industries are facing a hiring crisis right now. They cannot find people who are interested in applying for the open positions that they've got.
One restaurant in Indiana says that they need employees but nobody is applying. And in Indiana they have been facing a declining labor force for several months now. There are thousands of open positions right now listed in this state, for businesses that are desperate to fill positions and expand etc. Restaurants and other businesses around the U.S. right now are dealing with a serious staff shortage.
After millions of people had to take off work last year or were forced to work from home, many have come to prefer this work arrangement. For many that means they might leave their job if they have to go back to the office, they will go looking for something else.
Manufacturers have orders that they cannot fulfill because there aren't enough people, restaurants want to grow but cannot find staff to fill those positions, and who knows when that might take a turn.
Right now for those who are looking for a job it seems they've got their pick of the bunch, with so many places that are desperate right now to fill positions.
All around the country there are businesses struggling to fill positions right now in one industry or another. Places like McDonald's and Taco Bell are looking to hire thousands of new employees right now, but those businesses might have to eventually increase their pay if they want to attract that interest to do the job.
Millions are not seeking these jobs because they have a child to care for, others say they still fear contracting the virus, others might be surviving through unemployment benefits or stimulus help, there are a variety of contributing factors.
It is in more than just the fast food industry as well, from post control positions, to plumbing jobs, contractors, and other work that requires people to go into other people's homes, they are having issues hiring. Couple that with the demand for many of those services also increasing because of the pandemic, it's a unique problem that businesses are faced with.
It is expected that once those child care avenues are normalized and more kids are back in schools then the situation is going to look different. As well as unemployment benefits and stimulus help running out, this should bring more people to look for open positions in those industries.
