A large amount of protective gear and masks etc that was paid for by tax payers had recently been discovered after it had been seemingly discarded outside at an event center near the Bay Area, the boxes were left to decay outside in the rain. It's reported that county officials didn't know these PPE boxes were outside, they were allegedly forgotten and that meant that millions in PPE gear was potentially destroyed over this costly mistake.
If it were a small business or other private venue that had millions of dollars in goods outside at risk of decaying, perhaps they might be more aware of the situation. But for county workers in this California area they are now working to clean the mess that has been left.
The PPE waste was discovered by ABC7 I-Team and it is estimated that the PPE gear is worth some $10 million or more that had been left outside in the rain.
This is equipment that has been in high demand for years now throughout the pandemic and it angers many to see it left outside in this condition, with millions of dollars wasted on this that could've been spent elsewhere.
The news team is the one who ended up pushing for some accountability finally on this issue after discovering the waste. We are told that precautions are being taken to make sure such a situation doesn't happen again.
