My observations:
a) A few decades in the Oil & Gas industry - HSE Management is done well - no short cuts is taken. In Malaysia recently a number of university students were killed in a bus accident. When a trip was organized for Shell employees to a remote hotel, lots of procedures were required for the bus company to provide this service. I am glad these requirements were imposed.
b) PMT must be obsessed about schedule - complacency will lead to schedule slippage.
c) The team is as strong as the weakest link - fix the link when issues arise without delay.
d) Hawkishness about scope changes is mandatory. Clients will test this again and again.
e) Do Management by walking about - see people and hear them.
f) Celebrate milestones, keep people on their toes but committed and deadline conscious and have some fun as well.
