Nowadays, the whole world, talks about the latest technology, latest tech. gadgets/devices, latest tech. instruments/equipments and much more. Everyone believes that with the onset of 21st Century the whole world has changed. Moved ahead, marched forward.
Yes, the world has changed with the new technology, coming into the lives of people and making their lives, lot easier, (but, not for all!!!)
However, the whole world has literally, not moved into 21st century, so to say.
Primitive methods (in various fields) that were adopted in 19th Century, are still in practice, in various segments and spheres across the world.
Strangely enough (as a broad phenomenon and practice!) what is seen that rich people, anywhere in the world, are the front-runners to acquire/adopt the latest technology. Others still are continuing with the old or primitive methods that are unsafe and arduous, yet practiced/in use.
Though these Old/primitive instruments/gadgets/equipments gain lot of attention for their uniqueness and the way world has literally evolved from 100% human effort to minimal human intervention, be it any field.
This is a Manual/HandOperated-Fodder Cutter/Chaff Cutter Machine, which, i came across, last year during a visit to my friend's native village, in the North India. The machine is very heavy to use, made of cast Iron and the cutters/blades absolutely exposed to humans (without any safety features or safety grid to avoid any sort of contact with the cutter/blade. His Uncle, told us, accidents do happen, but they have to live with it, since the cattle needs fodder/chaff to eat daily and therefore they need to use the machine, daily.
They also showed us the fodder, which is bulldozed on carts, as and when required, was lying there, which is also manually cut form the fodder fields without the use of any combine harvester, because everyone cannot afford to purchase and maintain such advanced machinery. Therefore, primitive methods, still in practice. These methods, may be slow, laborious, time consuming but are considered cost effective, easy and fairly simple to use, though being RISKY & DANGEROUS.
