Thorns (real or analogous) could be the books from which a lesson and a commandment can be learned!
Attach whatever analogous pain-giving aspect of something similar to that of thorns , and/or trees/bushes as source of the pain-giver itself, which may come to yOUR mind as we read this post…
And, remember trees/bushes produce thorns in order to protect their offspring until the time that those offspring are mature enough to be consumed and transformed into trees/bushes themselves!
The lesson is, that of the possibility, to learn patience… by not rushing up the tree, and/or bush, to possibly harm one’s own physical being, via those thorns, in an effort to harvest fruits prematurely.
Rather learn to be patient. Do not climb the thorny, fruitful, tree nor reach into, or about, the fruitful bush. And, wait for the fruit-bearing plant to gift its fruit to man/woman/animal/fungi-KIND byway of dropping it onto the ground! Harvest freely, and harm-free (to self and plant), picking up the fruit, rather than picking it!
The Creator’s commandment to learn is ”do not steal”!
Climb the thorny tree, and/or reach into the thorny bush, before the craft-plant has completed the finishing and ripening of the fruits of its labor… and One may pay a blood-blessing for One’s sin!
Rather, ”do not steal” and the craft-plant will gift One freely, upon the ground, its fruits… ripe and, by which, ready to nourish the recipient’s physicality freely and blessings free!
