So I read a book by Gretchen Rubin called 'Better than Before'
Which mainly dealt with things like how one can resist temptation and lead a better life .
A simple principle mentioned there was to leave any of the one temptation you wanted too quit for just 40 days
I hardly had any of the temptations ,I am a teetotaler , No drugs , No alcohol , No smoking
But something that flashed my mind quick was to quit something that was dangerous than any of the above things mentioned that is
Yes you heard it right its sugar ,
Studies have sugar to be as dangerous as cocaine
Apart from the never ending addictiveness. Sugar got a lot of problems which include
1.Slower Metabolism
2.Mood Swings
3.Drowsiness
So this challenge includes no fruits , no jaggery , no sweet , no dessert, No Coffee(unless you having it black without sugar) .
So My experience so far been quite a bit challenging
Cause of following reasons
1.Sugar all around
We discovered the demerits of sugar too late that drug is widespread all over , Try asking regular street vendor to serve tea or coffee without sugar he wont be able to . Office parties, office lunches , atleast got 4-5 items sweet there already
2.No Happiness
Its a known fact that sugar makes one happy , and sudden drop will definately hamper it . And yeah you cant just refuse at times when one wanna share his birthday cake and you just have to refuse
3.Feeling Dull
A sudden feeling sugar going down isnt very energetic at all but yeah in long run one gets used to it
Merits
- You get the will power to resist temptations
Try quitting sugar , quitting everything else will be so easier , even your ex's memories , Habits of waking up late etc
2.You get healthy
Ofcourse the sudden weight lose is the biggest thing I gained 2 kgs lost in just 10 days ;;
3.Increased Concentration
I find myself more focused and my mind not wandering around anywhere
4.You cherish other sweet things in life
You will realise how sweet carrot is and ofc hugs and kisses
