We got the trim primed, painted and put up. It took a while as we have had some rain the last few days and paint does not dry in the rain. LOL. We used 1x3 furring strips, we had a budget and they fit into the budget, I do not think I want to use them again even with me sorting through most of them at the store to get the straight ones, we painted them and was going to put them up and they warped and bowed like crazy. It was a struggle to get them straight enough as I put them up.
The problem is trim is so expensive as most of the time it is sold by the foot and if it is not it is still priced really high. I will hope through the rest of the small house we can find something else to use as trim. It does look really good for the boards to be as bad as they were. If we have to we will use the furring strips again we will and just make things work, I like to say it adds character to the house.
We still have to finish the trim around the tub and in the corner of the tub area. It will not take much but we had to rethink some things, as we say in the military, adapt and overcome. We used FRP around the tub and we should have used the trim pieces made for it but we did not and that was a lesson learned.
The pieces of trim in the corner was for the tub area like I said before we are rethinking the trim in that area. My miter saw took a crap on me a few days ago, I think the bearings went out in the saw, so I had to just use straight butt joints instead of the compound corner cuts. I think it still looks ok as the wife is happy, If the wife is happy then I am happy. We are going to put in the tankless heater next and get the plumbing done so there will be running water in the house. I hope to have it done in a couple of days. I need to get the stuff for the garden done as I am already behind on that and I need to get caught up.
Had a rough couple of days and have not been able to do much but I worked today with my neck and head hurting and when my neck starts hurting it makes my hands weak and it is really frustrating because it is hard to hold on to anything. I have some messed up disks in my neck and back from military service and it is terrible when they start acting up. I just push through and I will get it done because I have too. Sorry for the length of time between posts on the small house project but it takes me awhile to get some things done.
