This is an approximation of what my house looked like two weeks ago. (I forgot to take a before picture, this one has the tree sitting 2 years smaller, thanks google.)
This is my picture from this evening. This is why I'm exhausted.
First I took down the 30ft pine tree. Besides having a weird split, a constant shadow, and a sappy mess on the vehicle, it also stands in the way of parking two cars side by side.
Two trailer loads, ratchet straps came in very handy.
As does having a neighbor with a chainsaw.
I won't lie, I'm a shitty documentor of process. That photo was taken on the Friday after two days of tearing off the fiber cement tiles which encompassed my house.
By Sunday afternoon, I had managed a bit more demo before screwing off to Toronto to visit friends and family.
I got back on the pony yesterday and managed to clean, and package all my tiles for disposal. After loading them all into my buddies truck I got a message that the dump would not take our load till next week because we hadn't got the paperwork in on time. 😁
Unfortunately/fortunately the doors for the school weren't ready so I got today off as well to work on the house, as well as sweet talk the dump into accepting my load. Thank god, those tiles were heavy AF and I didn't feel like unloading and storing them another week.
This morning after dumping the tiles, I got my buddy to rip down the stump, ordered a 10yd bin and then went to town on tearing of the roof of our mud room which has never been big enough to be of much use, I renovated it a few years ago, but no amount of rearrangement could make it bigger or less awkward, so it had to go to make way for better things.
Luckily even my in laws were feeling up to helping load the bin well I worked.
One wall down, two to go.
Cip saw through a California corner
Tashi wouldn't help me do any of the heavy lifting because she's "pregnant", I never get to use that excuse 😥
not that I needed the help. But when I was taking off those tiles, and getting rid of them, big shoutout to Oliver and Dennis for being there to help, my mother in law for babysitting and feeding me and my wife for putting up with my insanity.
mmm... Demo, I love it when a plan falls apart.
Done and rain coated till the siding goes on, I'll keep y'all posted.
But all this hard work is nothing compared to what people are doing out of sheer kindness of heart down in Houston right now, I'd like to dedicate this post and all its SBD rewards to @themadgoat and @thewisesloth two fellow steemians who, due to Harvey, have just been forced into moving in with their girlfriends pre-emptively😥

Goodnight.
