Anytime I've tried to learn a new thing, I had to be OK with not being good at the beginning. It takes a very special oddity for someone to embark on a venture being a complete master. Being OK with not knowing, with being the new guy on the block is the first important step you need to take.
I say this because many of us are too worried about not being good at something, we can be so worried that we decide not to try. Imagine how that would apply to anyone who has ever achieved anything of note. Does that make sense? Could someone like Michael Jordan be born with the natural ability to be the best basketball player of his generation? Or did he start from zero too?
I'm asking questions that I know the answer to because I believe they serve as good reminders. In today's world new careers, new possibilities are available to us every single day. Yet, sometimes we don't take those leaps because we know, we somehow know we wont be good enough.
What does that mean? Not being good enough? Is that an observation of now? because if it is, that could be true, but its not an observation of the future, because no one has those predictive powers.
If you wanna learn something, If you want to change careers, know this. You won't be great at the beginning, you might be terrible, but that is OK, learn to enjoy the dance, learn to love the journey to becoming an expert.
