I will reveal to you in my opinion anyway the most effective way to give up smoking which may also work for other addictions also. It worked for me anyway.

I smoked cigarettes for 8 years and although it was not easy I managed to go cold turkey. And looking back I can’t believe I ever smoked in the first place. It makes your breath and clothes smell, stains your teeth, irritates your gums and reduces your sense of taste. And as I’m sure you are all aware Smoking increases your risk of getting lung diseases like pneumonia, emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
Smoking also ages your skin but if you could see the damage it does to the inside of your body on the outside then I’m sure that would be enough for a lot of people to give up.
And the amount of money you would save depending on how many you smoke of course is crazy, I mean considering one packet of 20 costs around 8.50-pound sterling (11 U.S Dollars) well you can do the maths.

I had to have one every time I had a cup of tea or coffee. And when I kept getting out of breath just by going up the stairs I thought it was time to do something about it.
So, I just stopped, and I would occasionally give in from time to time to the little devil who appeared over my right shoulder but after listening to him for a few months I managed to kick the habit completely.
By going cold turkey, you are not relying on a substitute to get you through the hard times and with smoking if you do have a substitute what happens when you run out or don’t have a patch or nicotine gum for some reason. By relying on your own brain there are no excuses to give your self as to put another cancer stick in your mouth. Its not easy especially if you are a bit of a chain smoker and it doesn’t matter how many people tell them all the negative facts they must want to give up otherwise they won’t, some people just love it too much and are not ready to give up yet. If you do smoke quite a bit then you could gradually reduce the amount slowly which might help some people.

Some people move onto vaping to help them to quit but I think that just sounds like an excuse to me.
There just as bad if not worse. Use the force. You don't need a substitute you have the power within you.
Its been years since I puffed on my last cigarette and my lungs are all the better for it, when I go for a run and take a deep breath it feels smooth and I don't get out of breath too quickly anymore, that alone is enough for me never to go back.
So good luck to anyone who is trying to give up. Be strong.
