Overcoming the egoistic mind
Where to start ?
We are all created as a receiving unit so it is only natural that we only can act for our own self interest, which is as it must be, and is connected to the meaning of life itself.
Any action done for others is simply to make the ego feel better, to manipulate your thoughts into thinking that you are not pure ego and that you do not need to change your living. There is a way thou, to fool the ego, and use it against it self.
To change our nature and get a new perspective we must start to truly receive for the sake of others. To receive a gift is not simply receiving a gift but it can be done in two very different ways. This off course, extends beyond simple gifts but lets start here.
1.
First the natural one, when the ego accepts the gift for the sake of receiving the gift. The ego will be happy if the gift is usable or comes with any perks like status or power. If the gift lacks these properties the ego will simply feel that the gift lacks meaning. There is another aspect of receiving with the ego as well, shame. A gift that brings to much perks or is to usable will bring shame up on the receiver since the ego can´t understand why such a thing would be given away. This is something i´ve always felt when i´ve been gifted money, of any amount.
So either we receive a gift that brings only so much perks for us or we feel shame, there is no way around this dilemma when only receiving for the sake of the ego.
If we accept that there is no way to act without self interest, we sure will feel empty and meaningless but this is the beginning of understanding a new way of interacting with reality. Without this feeling and insight we would not know what we were, and knowing the enemy is step 1.
2.
There is another way of receiving a gift, we can with training and focus, accept the gift only for the sake of the giver. If we instead of focusing on the gift it self, and what it can bring our ego, and we instead focus on the giver and the generosity it must posses to give us this, everything will change. We will accept the gift only for the sake of enabling the giving, we will see the loving qualities of the giver and receive the gift only to amplify these properties. The gift will not matter any longer, only the intention will, and this will directly create a cycle of promoting altruism.
This will train us in seeing good in others, it will train us to be less materialistic and it will give us a whole new perspective of existence and new meaning to human interactions. It is only logical that we must train to see the best in others, since the picture we have of another human, simply enough, is limited to our capacity to imagine good in that human.
This might be a somewhat elusive concept of understanding but trying it brings a great feeling and the feeling is what shall guide you. I would like to share another example of how to focus on altruism in an everyday situation, this one, I read in the book “Obtaining the world beyond” by phD michael laitman.
This scene is set at dinner table, where you are invited to a fantastic and bountiful dinner.
The dinner consists of all your favorite food, so every dish is very desirable by the ego. The food is so plentiful that you will satisfy you hunger, and thereby your ego, long before you even had the chance to try every dish. The dinner is also so beautiful that you feel shame to even be given this fantastic gift and after trying a few dishes your ego is satisfied and you are full.
You cannot eat more and you feel even more shame for not trying all what this being gave to you, and you feel it is wasted on you alone. Nothing good comes out of this situation thanks to the perspective of the RECEIVER!
If the receiver like in my example above, concerning a simple gift, would accept this dinner for the sake of it being given, and the sake of the giver, something completely different will happen.
You will try every dish, because you didn't focus on what you like and how it can satisfy your ego, but the generosity behind it and the loving intentions that made it. Now you tried every dish for the sake of the giver, so that his generosity can become real, if you do not see it, it dose not exist. You see an ever increasing kindness and loving intention in your host. When you receive only to enable giving, your ego is no longer on the main stage. When you receive to enable giving you GIVE the greatest gift we ever could in return, you enable giving!
Receiving and giving is now almost the same thing, so entangled, and this cycle of giving and receiving for the sake of others or for the sake of giving, since it is the same, will give birth to true altruism and a new era of humanity. This is the focus we must keep, this is our responsibility, to see the best in others and to exist for the sake of others.
Start accepting
Accepting that we are created egoistic by nature, and that this is 100% fine, is the key. This is the meaning of life, to understand this and beg for the possibility to change, to be able act for others or even for altruism is self.
It is not easy and our ego will do everything in its power to manipulate us into believing that we have already succeeded, that we are good. But keep fighting and never listen to your thoughts just follow your heart, and the point suspended within it, that contains the knowledge of right and wrong, the source of moral and love.
You may ask why we were created in the opposite image of our creator, as pure ego?
Lucky for you, I can answer this question here and now, once and for all if you are ready to truly listen, listen with your heart.
We were created egoistic since in the beginning of creation, when we were merely put into existence next to our creator, there were no free will. Neither did we have the capacity to question this creation and our situation, and the creator saw that this was incomplete, that we by own choice should exist side by side with him and not by his force.
He separated us from our origin with a veil of pure egoism, letting none of his light in, since this would revel him and guide us, and again force us to him. Living under the veil of egoism, we have identified ourselves with our bodies and desires. This will bring nothing but pure pain and loneliness believe me friend, you are so much more.
Now that we see the complete and utter egoism in our behavior and feel how powerless we are when it comes to acting for others, we will cry out for help, for the chance to change!
Now we want NOTHING else, only to remember our creator and what we truley are.
We will cry,scream and beg on our bare knees for him to change us, to give us this possibility to receive for others, so that we may start the life long quest of extinguishing the ego. We by FREE WILL shall turn our backs towards the material world and egoism and he will hear us, he will grant our wish. The hard work thou, it is still ours, we are still egoistic creatures with a small small slimmer of guiding light in our hearts, so please follow it!
Do you see now, the meaning of life? If you don't let me put it this way.
Crying out for change, for the truth, will create free will, when we truly want to return to our creator and share his vision, we will do so by free will, not by the force of our creator. There is no other way to "create" free will, we must first be let loose and forget what we were, in order to truly chose our own existence and return home.....
This creates both free will and individuality in the eternal consciousness that is one. Nothing could be more obvious, sadly we fail to see this.
We fail to see what enlightened humans of our past has strived towards for 1000´s of years. All the information they left behind is being taken for fairy tales by our egoistic material minds.
We replaced it with a new control system called society. But all that politics, law, science and economy brings us or ever will bring us, is war, since it does not address the true problem, our egoistic nature. This forces us to needlessly suffer, since there is no other path. If we were happy as we are, egoistic, we would never question reality and never ask for change, we would be trapped forever in this illusion.
This answers the question of the moral of our creator as well, why would he cause suffering?
It is because of His limitless love and desire to once again be by our side.
Every single human must embark on this journey, no one can be left behind, so please wake up, realize that you are a moral being and stop feeding your ego. The world is merely a reflection of our inner state. Every awaken individual will work tirelessly to spread this message, nothing else matters, believe me.
Why listen to me?
And remember: Only a false prophet would claim another one to be false.
