In india according to article 24 of indian constitution prohibits(stop) the employment of children below the age of 14 years in any factory,mine or other hazardous activities ,but it does not prohibit(stop) their employment in any harmless areas like supermarkets,shops....
- the child labour act 1986 is the most important law in this direction and other similar acts(factories act 1948,motor transport worker act 1951....) prohibit the employment of children below certain age..
in 1996 in the direction of stopping the child labour supreme court directed the establishment of fund or fine which has to pay by the offending employer which is ₹20000 for each child..
in 2006 finally government of India banned the employment of children as domestic servants or workers like in hotels,shops, factories,tea shops.....
in 2016 the child labour amendment act 2016 amended(reform) the child labour act 1986 after which it known as (the child and adolescent labour act 1986),
Which increases the age from (14 to 18 years of age)
- the act prohibits the child below the age of 14 years in all occupation or child below the 14 years of age are banned to work in indian ..
- but this act does not provide the same to the adolescents this act prohibits them to work in hazardous occupation but not prohibits them to work in harmless or innocent work( shops...)
