People talk about addiction , well this is mine.
It's cold, windy and just generally miserable but when i hear that engine crack to life nothing else matters. I know we are going to war for the next 5 hours against the best drivers and pit crews for a 200 mile radius. Best part is? We are advertising steem and steemit.com on top of everything else.
Today we are loading up and traveling 2 hours south to Humboldt KS. This is a 3/8 mile clay oval track. Average speeds around it are in the high 80's to low 90's while turning...... on dirt. I am quickly writing this in the truck. When we arive we will fire this monster up. There is nothing like the smell of the burnt off fuel making your eyes water and the way a freshly put togeather motor smells as it breaks in. It is amazing what you pick up on with years of experience. Watching a car back out of a spot and seeing how much camber / caster he has when he turned the steering wheel. To the trained eye the cars movement reveals all the secrets that they covered with tarps to prevent prying eyes.
I may update this post throughout the night depending on how much work we have to put in between hot laps / heat races / and features. Wish us luck.
Update 1 : I can already tell i am going to like it here. This is the sign on the front gate.
Passing for first in our heat race and the guy came down into us and snapped the right front spindle
