This doesn't happen very often, Adriatic sea in not natural habitat of large whales. Our sea is rich with fish and food, especially Croatian part, but it's still too shallow and dangerous for large animals because of many rocks and small islands and it is tourist season so we have many ships, yachts and boats on the surface.

However, the two of those were seen yesterday near the island of Lošinj, not more than 120 kilometers from my home.
They are called fin whales, finback whale, razorback whale and they are second biggest animals on the Earth, after blue whale. They usually live in Atlantic ocean but it can be found in all seas and oceans. They can grow up to 27 meters, but these two were around 18 meters and they are look like they are in very good shape. They are endangered species and the biggest cause of their extinction are collisions with ships. One of these two was noticed with a scar on his backs that was caused by interaction with a large, fast moving ship. But it seems that the animal recovered.

I think that they came in best place to be, people here are not whale hunters and they will not disturb them.
This is the first time since I am on Steemit that whales came to Adriatic sea.
