Strawberry Honey Is So Yummy
Two of the world's greatest gifts, homegrown strawberries and local Fireweed Honey. There are so many uses for this delightful combination. Strawberries are among the top 20 fruits for antioxidants and just 8 will equal the antioxidant punch of one orange.
Most of us know honey to be a strong antibacterial and antimicrobial. It has a shelf life of 25 years and will preserve the fruit you pair with it. There is no need to can. It is a natural sugar and much better for you than white sugar, which is fattening and addictive. Instead of syrup, which has corn syrup in it, jam which is loaded with white sugar, or other sugary substances, why not give the children a flavored honey on their pancake, waffle, or toast? It is delicious and has healing in every bite.
This afternoon I have been making Strawberry Honey with the strawberries that I dried earlier in the week. You can use fresh, dried, or dried and powdered in the making of the honey. I just prefer to use strawberry powder. When giving honey to children, remember not to give to children under 2 years of age.
So whenever you are ready, their is adventure in the kitchen. There are many different medicinal herbs that you can have ready for when colds and flu hit your home. Having them in the form of honey, makes it easier to get the younger ones to take. So come on now, it's time for a kitchen adventure.
