I referred to this briefly in another post but then discovered that it actually IS the real firehouse... before I just suspected it. I have confirmation that it is in-fact that real one, which is obvious from the photos upon further review.

This is the official picture from the Wiki

You can tell by looking at the shape of the buildings next to it, in particular their windows, that this is, in fact that same building. Now, I want you to understand why this is super-special to me and not just because Ghostbusters is one of the greatest comedy / action films of all time.

Finding it was so special to me because of the fact that I was not looking for it. I hadn't thought about Ghostbusters in any way other than the remake making my feel physically ill... in many years. I just happened to be walking down the street in Tribeca (an area of Manhattan in NYC) and was actually lost because i got turned around on Google Maps and there it was, right across the street from me. I am sure it is on all sorts of tourist maps and it might have actually been on the Google Maps i was staring at for all i know.
I had a moment where i was looking at it the way of
"wait a second..... i know you"
And then took a photo not even realizing that there is actually a vinyl sign above the door indicating that it is in-fact the Ghostbusters building (this was pointed out by a friend and I feel like a real dope for not noticing.)
I was cold, i was lost (ish) and i was kind of wandering. It is as though the Ghostbusters firehouse was calling out to me because had i not gotten lost... i wouldn't have found it.
On a side note I think perhaps Ghostbusters is more important to me than most people because my friends who live in the area... and have for years.... had no idea it was there either. :P
