I've been traveling since last year May, to many countries, and I've been in Israel for a few months now.
One of the first things I noticed, was people leave things outside their homes that they don't use anymore. I've seen everything from tv's, to couches (in very good condition), to clothes, shoes, food, even an old espresso machine. At first I found it odd, but after asking around a bit, I realized it was very common. Apparently some poorer people even make a business out of it by going around and collecting this stuff and re-selling it!
The people giving this stuff away could easily make a couple of hundred bucks selling this stuff, but they choose to place it outside, so that anyone who needs it, may take it. What a beautiful thing to do! I haven't seen anything quite like it in any of the places i've been.
This is another thing i've personally seen more than a couple of times. I use the bus to get around here. Someone gets on and is a bit short on cash to pay the driver. Without fail, someone gets up and pays for them. I love it! I've done this myself for someone.
Those who give know how good it feels, its a much nicer feeling than taking.
Thanks for reading.
