As I stood there I was busy on my phone. Messaging my sister and my girlfriend. Scared out of my wits. The one police officer tells me...
Officer: "You are under arrest, so switch off your phone"
Me: "...."
As I'm still messaging trying to let my sister and girlfriend know I'm there and they must come, this guy keeps on telling me to switch it off. For fear of him breaking it or whatever I switch off the phone. It's official, I'm on my own now until my sister and girlfriend arrive. He then proceeds to type my details into the computer to see if I have a previous criminal record. I stand there, watching him. Friggen Windows 7 machine. facepalm
Officer: "I'll be right back, I want to see what this info on the screne means"
Me in thought: "It's your friggen job to know the meaning of whatever is on there"
The other officer, the one who for some reason hated me, tells me to follow him. We then go into another small room which consisted of one desk, one chair, LCD TV on the wall.
He tells me to stand there while he sits down and starts filling in whatever stuff into a hardcover book. I obviously don't know what this man is filling in but I can only assume it's details of me and my crime. Now here's the funny part... As this guy is filling in the details, he pauses every few seconds to look up at the TV and watch the soapie that's on. I kid you not! This guy was filling in AND watching a friggen TV soapie. Definitely just to delay the process as he could see the fear in me.
With this the other officer comes in with a look on him that just screamed satisfaction.
Officer who just walked in: "You're not going anywhere!"
He said this because I wanted to just get a fine or whatever and get out of there. I didn't want to get thrown into a prison holding cell.
The other officer when done filling in whatever, shoves the book towards my direction and says, "Sign!". I look at the book and start reading. I'm not going to sign something if I haven't read it yet. Especially in a police station with these two assbags. As I tell him I'm just reading what I'm signing for, he loses it and yells at me...
Officer: "Give me my pen!"
Yells again, "Now read then if you want to read!"
He continues watching the soapie. I read, and it's basically just stuff that says what my rights are. Ok fine, I'll sign it. I sign it and give his book back.
With this my girlfriend arrives. I have never been so happy to see another human being, especially the woman I love. I break down and all that I could muster was, "Baby!" and she hugs me. She tells me to remain calm and do as they say. I say, "ok, ok". They then ask me to hand over all my belongings which were:
- Wallet
- Cell Phone
- Car Keys
- Smokes + lighter
- My shoelaces and the "string" from my hoodie
- Watch
Apparently they take that incase someone tries to strangle you with your own shoelaces, or incase you try to commit suicide with them. I allow my girlfriend to take my belongings. No way I'm leaving mys tuff with these assbags. They then tell me to come with them... As I'm escorted I look at my girlfriend with utter hopelessness knowing there's no way I'm going home tonight.
She tells me, "Don't worry I'll go fetch your car ( it was still parked at the Mall ) and I'll go home to switch your PC off. I leave the room while not breaking my stare at her. Now it was just me and these two assbags. I have never in my entire life ever wanted to just go home as I wanted to at that point. That's when it hit me, you're being thrown into a prison holding cell tonight with who knows who, and for how long I don't know. 100% panic. 100% fear.
Make no mistake, it was nothing like the image above. That photograph is a friggen holiday vacation compared to how my situation was. Anyway, so I follow these two guys. Remember it's not close to 5pm on a Friday, the sun is already low as we entering our winter. I follow them down a passage to the back which looks like a friggen dump! Dark and gloomy like something out of a horrow movie. Luckily I wasn't handcuffed. It felt as though I was walking to my doom, like I was heading for a life sentence or something.
After a few twists and turns we enter this big room with 6 holding cells. Three on each side. The room was pretty big, cemet floor, pretty clean. All I see are these massive prison bars. Black or a very dark blue from what I can see. The lighting in there sucked. No windows. Something that resembled a ceiling. And this was just the entrance to the room that had the holding cells! This wasn't even the actual holding cell !
One officer asks me...
Officer: "Do you want to be put in with these two guys or in this cell alone?"
( One cell had two gentleman in it )
Me: "Alone please"
He takes his massive keychain thing that has like a hundred keys on it and puts it into the lock. With a loud "CLANK" the door opens and he tells me, "Get in".
As I enter the holding cell, I break down. I cry like a baby. The utter hopelessness of that cell was more than I could bear. That place was utter hell, and I was all alone in there. What I saw as I entered was just pure hell...
In my final part I'll describe the cell and what I went through later that night...
