We are in the middle of the holiday season and, hopefully, enjoying it to the fullest. Each one of us has a personal point of view about the holiday season. While many of us look forward to this period as it is the best occasion to reunite with friends and family, others see this period as a great chance to travel towards new destinations.
There are, of course, plenty people out there who still honour this period for its original religious significance and there are also those who have a neutral approach to holidays and get through this time of the year with no particular fuss or emotions.
Despite our different feelings and holiday habits, there is one major aspect we all have in common, which is also, in my opinion, the greatest advantage of the holiday season, namely the time-off.
Holidays mean time-off from everything. Except for a few year-round, 24/7 services all the other domains of activity are getting a break in this period, to the delight of employees and, probably, business owners alike. Children and students also get a well-deserved and highly beloved vacation. State institutions cease their activities until the beginning of the next year. Everything seems to halt as people get the chance to focus more on their personal rather than professional life.
This is the best thing holidays really grant us. It is that time of the year when we all get a chance to stop from whatever it is that we do each day in order to earn a living. The great thing about the winter holidays is that we are all in this. Unlike the annual vacation we all take in different periods of the year, and during which time seems to stand still only for us, during this season, we all get to enjoy this short interval of tranquility together. This is our chance to collectively gain more peace of mind and recharge our batteries for the year to come.
No matter how or where you choose to spend the reminder of the holiday season, I hope you'll have a great time!
