I'm fed up. More and more people and organizations seek to justify irresponsible, immoral or illegitimate decisions and actions through the narrow test of legality. You know the sort of thing, like customers of banks who get loaded with insurance products they can never hope to claim against. When the banks get caught, the defense is that the products and their sale to customers "met all legal tests". Our laws tell us the things that we can not do, based on the reasonable expectations of society, as legislated by elected representatives. Just because something is not against the law, that does not mean that it is the ethical and responsible thing to do. But everyone knows that right? It would appear not.
