YOU are bound to commit mistakes no matter how much we strive to be a good person. You are human, you are not perfect and that is okay. It doesn't matter if you've committed a lot of mistakes as long as you learn something on every mistake. It allows you to become a better version of yourself. That is why it is important that you accept your faults and own up to them. Don't justify your wrong doings and learn to apologize. Do your best not to commit the same mistake over again because it only indicates that you haven't learned anything.
For a lot of people, asking for forgiveness is hard especially if they're concerned about their pride. The word "sorry" isn't really easy to say but if it's the only way to save a tainted relationship, then, say it. In return, when someone asks for your forgiveness, do your best to forgive him. You cannot expect others to forgive you if you cannot forgive those who have wronged you. Yes, you were hurt by that person and forgiving is not an easy thing to do. It requires a lot of emotional stability and enough time to make sure that all of your wounds were already healed. But as much as you can, forgive those who have wronged you.
You are doing yourself a huge favor by forgiving those who have hurt you. It's for your peace of mind. It's a step towards moving on and accepting that the world is cruel and anyone can hurt you unexpectedly. Especially the people you cherish. They can hurt you when you least expect it but your love for that person should be stronger than the pain he caused you. Getting hurt, deceived or betrayed by a person who matters to you isn't easy. But no matter how hard it is, focus on the good things.
There's a reason for everything. Why did that person hurt you? Maybe because he's bound to teach you a lesson. Maybe he's meant to get kicked out of your life. No matter what the reason is, don't hold grudges. Don't let pain make you miserable. Keeping a heavy heart will keep you from growing. It will attract negativities and will make you bitter towards life. It can create a big impact on you personally. Over the course of time, you'd learn that awful things can happen and you just have to suck it up. You have no choice but to deal with them and not allow these awful things hinder you from being happy and live a peaceful life.
Forgiving is hard but not totally impossible :)
