According to the Associated Press, Donald Trump won 2,626 out of 3,113 US counties in the 2016 presidential election, as shown in Figure 1 and 2. Yet, there are people who believe that those remaining 487 counties should dictate the future and fate of the entire nation. Let that sink in. Over the past year, the left contends that the popular vote alone should clinch the presidency, but should large (predominantly coastal) liberal metros (Figure 3) determine what's right for America's heartland? If you ask me, our founders had it right when they implemented the electoral college as a safeguard to preserve rural America.
