Today the State Fair of Texas opened for the first time this year.
I like the State Fair.
I like the rides but mostly I like the games.
Also the fun houses, haunted houses, and food are great.

The weather has been kind of rainy in Texas but that usually doesn't stop us from going out to the fair.
However, any time an event like the State Fair takes place it always takes people away from our restaurant.
You see, there's a certain number of people in one place at one time.
When those people are at the fair that means that they are not eating at our restaurant.
Our total sales when I left for lunch today were something like 8 times lower than normal.
Now it was raining and mildly dreary...... that is true.

You'd be surprised how many people go out to eat in the rain though.
In fact, I remember one morning there was a thunderstorm and I really didn't want to go to work.
I remember thinking that we would be incredibly slow because I was driving through these giant torrential floods.
That ended up being one of the busiest days of the year.
Today though each of us made about $6 instead of the normal $30 - $50 at lunch.
It happens, but I hope people remember to come to our restaurant instead of just going to the fair this weekend.
I like the State Fair but unless you work there it's bad for business.
