Kulasa, a poor little girl, shaking and hungry at the garbage area looking for spare scrap of food to fill her empty stomach. She didn’t mind how stinky the rubbish and how did other children look at her. The only thing in her mind was to find food to quiet her grumbling tummy. ‘At last I found one a slice of pizza and a half filled bottle of coke,’ she exclaimed. The food in her hand delighted her innocent and eager heart. She didn’t miss to savor the single slice of pizza and excitedly opened her mouth widely like a starving bird waiting for her mother’s worm. Now, she was able to think better than last minute ago. Earnestly, she continued looking for more food for her younger siblings who were waiting along the crowded and dusty market surrounded by apathetic people. Yes, they were not seen; they were like stones moving. Stones that were broken into pieces. Kids that are so innocent in mind and heart not ready of what life they are into. Just waiting for Kulasa, waiting for food. After long hours opening each bags with spoiled food, she was saddened that she ate all the single slice of pizza and the half bottle of coke. She was in guilt that she didn’t think of keeping for her siblings. All she could see are used diapers, wrappers of expensive chocolates, smelly chemicals and totally spoiled food. She thought to herself, ‘What should I bring for them? How could I feed my four siblings?’ Walking around, she saw a kid with his lovely parents playing together and eating yummy food. Shed of tears flowed from her eyes, ‘If only my parents were with us...’
In the marker, as expected Kulasa’s siblings were hungry, weak and dying. Kanor the younger brother couldn’t contain seeing his siblings in agony because he couldn’t do anything about it. His last resort was to steal a piece of bread from a seller on the street even it was against his will.
After battling in his mind, there the precious bread he grabbed. However, he was noticed and a police with such huge tummy filled with bread ran as if he could to catch this poor little kid. At last, he escaped, but wait he didn’t know where he was now. He’s lost. Sobbing he looked at the bread and cried, ‘Where am I? I got a piece of bread, but I lost my siblings!
‘Where is Kulasa? Where is Kanor?’ the three siblings cried. They were helpless, wandering. The rained poured, poured so hard. Kulasa was shivering because of the cold rain. Kanor was so wet and sat near the cemetery alone and was so scared. The three siblings were soaked in the flood.
This is a reality that is hidden – thickly concealed by such of human selfishness- “I want this, I want that, I want more of that, I want more of this.”
Where is Kulasa now? Was she able to seek food for her siblings or got she sick due to the heavy rain? What about Kanor? Did he eat the piece of bread he stole or still keeping it safe having faith to his siblings again? The other 3 siblings, who knows what happened to them in the flood.
