HAPPY TUESDAY FRIENDS
I have been away for a few days, loving spending precious time with my granddaughter but missed my furbabies so much. It was a nice break as things were getting really difficult with Mika, thankfully before I left they told us she should be OK thinking what she has is cushings disease and not heart failure or cancer, they really scared us saying this before she was even looked at. I got back Sunday lunchtime to spend sometime with my pups before getting back into the Vet visits.

Mika was booked in for 9am on Monday morning, she needed to stay at the Vets for 4ish hours for tests to verify the Cushings disease diagnoses. Taking her in was difficult as she didn't want to go, they were going to sedate her for the tests, I hated the idea of her going to sleep being scared and unsure of what's going on plus the trauma of her mam and dad handing her over, what if she didn't wake up. Thankfully 3 hours later we got the phonecall to say Mika can come home, we dropped everything then went straight up for her, She was so glad to see us pulling us out of the Vets, I think she's had enough of them jabbing her taking blood. We have to now wait for the results before proceeding. They have her more Gabapentin as this is helping some of the symptoms, she has just about stopped coughing, she's not panting abs she's sleeping better. Once we get the results we can then move onto the next stage of the treatment.
CUSHINGS DISEASE This was from my earlier post.
In Vets terms this is hypercortisolism, this is a pituitary disorder that happens when the body produces far to much Cortisol. Cortisol is a stress related hormone. This can shorten a dogs life but medication can improve symptoms. Your dog can start to feel pain depending on age and depending on how the progression of the disease. Mika is going through the early stages of this disease e.g excessive panting, excessive drinking and excessive peeing, the other stages are weight gain or loss, hair loss, muscle wastage plus a potbellied stomach
The Vets said it can take up to a week for results so going to try and let her relax and enjoy some family time with a few rewards, she deserves them. The ladies at the Vets said Mika had been lovely, going with the flow, quiet and very friendly. She's a happy natured pup that's until Luna shows her face then Mika on guard.
I'm having a few days resting catching up on the sleep I missed out on plus I've come home loaded with cold, I'm coughing, sneezing and not feeling very well. Trust me to catch a cold in the Summer, I was fine all winter wuth no heating on French doors wide open and barely any close with going through the Menopause, I didn't catch a cold then.
Thank you for visiting.💟💟
