सुख : स्वरूप और चिन्तन (भाग # ३) | Happiness : Nature and Thought (Part # 3)
पिछली दो पोस्ट से आगे बढ़ते हुए हम सुख पर एक उदाहरण से समझने का प्रयत्न करते हैं ।
तत्व ज्ञान के अभाव में मनुष्य कितने भ्रम में पड़ा रहता है तथा कैसा अभिमान करने लगता है इसका उदाहरण घनश्यामदास बिड़ला के एक संस्मरण से प्रकट होता है ।
“मुझे प्रात:काल घुमने की आदत है । प्रात:काल का शुद्ध पवन मनुष्य को नव जीवन प्रदान करता है । अस्तु, एक दिन मैं भ्रमण हेतु निकला । वायु की परमार्थ वृत्ति पर मैं विचार करने लगा, यह वायु कितना परिश्रम करती है ? न जाने कितने हजार मील दूर से उड़ती चली आती है, पशु-पक्षी, वृक्ष-लता, मनुष्यों को जीवनदान देती है । अथक प्रवाहित रहती है । कभी विराम नहीं लेती और सबसे बड़ी बात तो यह कि इस परोपकार के बदले में कभी किसी से कुछ चाहती भी नहीं ।”
यह विचार करके मैंने हवा से कहा – “हे वायु ! तुम इतना परोपकार करती हो किन्तु कभी तुमने अपने इस कृत्य को
किसी अख़बार में क्यों नहीं छपाया ?”
हवा ने पूछा – “कौन-सा अख़बार अच्छा है ? किसमें सुचना दूं ?”
“हिंदी, अंग्रेजी तथा अन्य भाषाओँ में बहुत से अच्छे अख़बार हैं ।” मैंने उत्तर दिया ।
हवा ने पूछा – “क्या चन्द्र लोक, सूर्य लोक तथा अन्य अनेक ग्रह नक्षत्रों में भी तुम्हारे अख़बार पहुंचते हैं ?”
“नहीं, वहां तो नहीं पहुंचते ।” मैंने लज्जित होते हुए कहा ।
हवा हास्य करते हुए बोली – “मनुष्य ! तू सचमुच कूप-मंडूक है । अपनी छोटी-सी पृथ्वी को ही सारी सृष्टि मान बैठा है और अभिमान के शिखर पर चढ़ गया है । अरे, मेरा तो व्रत है प्राणिमात्र की सेवा । मेरा अख़बार है ईश्वरीय ह्रदय । सारी ख़बरें वहां स्वयं ही पहुंच जाती हैं, अच्छी भी बुरी भी । अस्तु मैं तो निस्वार्थ भाव से सेवा करती हूँ, तू भी मेरा अनुसरण कर, तुझे सच्चा सुख प्राप्त होगा ।”
यह कहते हुए हवा तो सरसराती हुई अपनी सेवा तथा त्याग के पुण्य पथ पर आगे बढ़ गई किन्तु मैं क्रोध में भरा हुआ वहीं खड़ा रह गया । मेरी इच्छा थी कि हवा को एक अच्छा-खासा उपदेश दे डालूं किन्तु उसे तो, ‘लगन लगी पद पावन की’ उसे मेरा उपदेश सुनने की फुरसत कहां थी ? वह तो ‘कामये दुःखतप्तानां प्राणिनामार्तिनाशनम’ गाती-गाती आगे चली गई थी ।
मैं खीझता हुआ आगे बढ़ा और अपना क्रोध मैंने एक ऊंट पर निकलना चाहा । बात यह हुई कि मार्ग में एक ऊंट अपनी थकान मिटाने के लिए धूल में लोट-पॉट हो रहा था । धुल उड़ रही थी । मैंने क्रोध से कहा – “अरे ऊंट ! तू गंवार ही रहा । हम इस रास्ते से गुजरते हैं तो लोग हमारा आदर करते हैं, हमें प्रणाम करते हैं । सो प्रणाम करना तो दूर, तू उल्टा हम पर धूल उड़ाता है ।”
यह सुनकर ऊंट ने अपना व्यायाम तो बंद कर दिया किन्तु खड़खड़ाकर हँसता हुआ बोला – “महाशय ! आप तो मुर्ख तो हैं ही, अभिमानी भी हैं । अभी आप हवा को उपदेश देने की घृष्टता करना चाहते थे । हवा तो आदर्श सेवक है, ईश्वर-भक्त है, उसने आपको कुछ नहीं कहा । किन्तु मुझे उपदेश देने को कोशिश न करिएगा । संक्षेप में इतना ही जान लीजिए कि आप मुझ से भी अधिक नीच हैं ।”
मैंने कहा – “अरे ऊंट ! तू पशु होकर मनुष्य को उपदेश देना चाहता है ? मुझे तेरी बुद्धि पर दया आती है ।”
ऊंट की मुखाकृति गंभीर हो गई । उसके नथुने फड़कने लगे, आँखों में तेज चमकने लगा । वह बोला – “क्या केवल मनुष्य देह प्राप्त कर लेने से ही मनुष्य स्वयं को मनुष्य कहलाने का अधिकारी हो जाता है ? यदि तू ऐसा समझता है तो तेरी बुद्धि को धिक्कार है ।”

While saying this, the wind blazes on the path of service and renunciation of sacrifice, but I remained standing in anger.
