First World Problem Resolved
Ok, so yeah I don't normally talk about products that I like to use. Much less (never) do I talk about umm... beauty products? But I had to make an exception in this case because it's the rare occasion that I bought something expecting it to be snake oil and then it actually did what it claimed to do.
When I was about 25 I started to notice that for no apparent reason my eyebrows were getting thinner and thinner. I didn't really notice them falling out so much as the dark hairs seemed to get lighter, and over time just kind of disappeared. Eventually, by the time I was about 30 they were almost completely gone. A few years after that, you could slightly see a few specks of eyebrow on the inner part of each brow, but the rest was completely bald except for a bit of peach fuzz.
About 6 weeks ago my lovely other half @afturner got some deal on this stuff called Nulastin which I was pretty sure was a scam. It was two little vials, one labeled 'brow' and the other labeled 'lash'. She gave me the brow one which had a little brush in it that you dip in the bottle and then scrub on your eyebrow area. I say area in my case because there was no hair there to speak of.
I was pretty sure it was a scam because the bottle seemed to be empty. It weighed almost nothing and when I would pull the brush out it seemed like nothing was on it. When I rubbed it on my brow I could feel a slight moisture. Apparently the elastin in the formula is super expensive to produce, so it is very concentrated and you don't need much.
Something of a miracle...
I have to admit, I was seriously amazed after a couple of weeks when I started noticing dark spots over my eyes. I remember waking up one day thinking my brow was dirty. On closer inspection, surely enough there were new eyebrows coming in. So I kept consistently using it.
It's now been about 6 weeks since I started using it and I have 2 complete, albeit still somewhat sparse eyebrows. But I am not complaining at all! They are still growing. On the website it says that it usually takes 3 months. So it's actually kind of cool that I am already getting such dramatic results!
People might be reading this thinking "Wow, some people have real problems. This is dumb." which would be true. But it has been a subtle thing that has bugged me for a long time. I always have felt like I looked super weird. People would ask me why I shaved off my eyebrows. I even got blood tests to see if I had a thyroid problem, but nothing was found. One doctor said that it can happen from stress! Well, that would not be surprising.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this in case anyone else has lost their eyebrows for whatever reason. It really works! I can't wait to see if they grow back thick and bushy after a few months. Wish me luck! Hopefully they don't grow 6 inches long, or something crazy though.
