Let me tell you a story.
A certain psychologist wanted to study the science behind the act of begging.
“How does a typical beggar think,” the psychologist wondered.
“And why does he think the way he thinks?"
He wanted to understand how the mind of a beggar works.
Therefore, he started reading all the materials he could find about begging.
Finally, he decided he would go out into the streets and for the next three weeks, dress, think, and act like a beggar.
He began to passionately practice the act of begging.
He begged on the street from the first week all through the third week, and then something interesting happened.
Eventually, this psychologist did not stop.
He continued begging, afterwards.
You see!
Our minds respond to impulses that eventually congregate and transmute themselves into chains of habits - habits that alter the direction of our lives.
But we have a choice of what impulses and their quantities we allow our minds to garner and feast on.
Make no mistake about it!
We are in a war; and there are legions of scary and not-so-scary forces out there, ready to hijack our souls and launch us into dungeons of snags, mediocrity, commonness, or befoulment, through the susceptible gateway of our minds.
Therefore, we better watch out, lest our minds either get imprisoned or run amok or become sullied by impulses that we fail to take control of.
Refuse to lower your shield and send your sword out of order. In a bloodcurdling war like this, only the pre-emptors and protectors will thrive.
So let us pre-empt the evils ahead and protect our minds!
