I started out on Steemit in November last year. It has been a great few months IMHO.
I was on the lookout for a relatively passive stream of income in addition to my full time job.
I started exploring various online income streams right from doing small micro-jobs online to watching videos to get paid. God was very kind to me as in my exploratory journey, I finally found Steemit.
I had heard of Steemit last year but I always thought blog posting is not my cup of tea. Things changed when I finally realized that this was the answer I was looking for. On a philosophical note, I think that last year I was not supposed to explore this wonderful platform as probably my time had not yet come. God had planned it for me when he believed I deserved it.
Now after this self-discovery confession, lets come back to why I believe that Steemit is the ticket to Financial Freedom! For me, Financial freedom means not having to work for someone else, not having to be a slave of the system. After all, human beings were not designed to sit in front of a box called the computer all day long , staring into it! It also means traveling the world, getting to see new places. Not having to worry about an incoming stream of money, if I don’t work.
With Steemit, you can earn money in the form of Steem and Steem Backed Dollars, which can be exchanged for fiat currency. Money is earned when you post content and get voted for it. 75% of the voted value accrues to the author and 25% to the curators who curate content. This platform is like'Reddit' or 'Medium' of the cryptocurrency world. The only difference being that Steemit pays and all these other platforms don’t. As more and more people get aware of cryptocurrencies and the power behind Blockchain and associated technologies is unleashed, the reach of Steemit is going to increase by orders of magnitude. This platform will slowly but surely phase out the Reddits and Mediums of the world since this is a platform that pays. Period! Added to it is the fact that, we are getting paid in a currency that is going to keep on increasing in value in the long-term. That is imperative since this is what is going to beat inflation long term.
The concept of critical mass is very important, if one wants to appreciate how Steemit is going to have a large enough network, that is going to drown out any competition. Facebook is one such example, which comes to mind. Before Facebook, there were many such social network websites like Orkut, Myspace, Hi5 etc. But once when Facebook became very big with the largest outreach, all competition died out. I believe, that the same thing is expected to happen with Steemit in the next 5 to 10 years. Steemit is going to phase out all competition.
Lastly, I want to know, what Financial freedom mean to you?
