MONEY is essential! To most, money is a tool. That's why we were here(on steemit) to earn some extra money, isn't it?
And let me clarify that I also love money. Money gives me freedom, money gives me the ability to experience many of the things in life like travel, leisure, shopping, to do good deeds(donation) etc. In short, money is a master key to open any door.
Now ask this question to yourself and think about this deeply now, and read this speech of Alan watts below:
What if, money were no object? How would you really enjoy spending your life? (question asked by Alan watts to his students in vocational guidance seminar)
Some students say well, we'd like to be painters, we'd like to be poets, writers, but as everybody knows you can't earn any money that way.
After knowing the answer from students alan says"You do that and forget the money because if you say that getting the money is the most important thing, you will spend your life completely wasting your time. You’ll be doing things you don’t like doing in order to go on living, that is to go on doing things you don’t like doing, which is stupid.
Here Alan watts urges us to detach from our inner belief that money will bring us happiness, and do things which makes us really happy.
He goes on: It is better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way. (die young but happy instead of old and unhappy)And after all, if you do really like what you’re doing, it doesn’t matter what it is, you can eventually turn it – you could eventually become a master of it. And then you’ll be able to get a good fee for whatever it is.
So don't worry too much!!!
But it's stupid to spend your time on doing things you don't like and to teach our children to follow in the same track. See what we are doing, is we’re bringing up children and educating to live the same sort of lives we are living. And so, therefore, it’s so important to consider this question: What do I desire?
Because happiness cannot be measured. Happiness is a state of being. It can only be felt.
