The crypto markets have been down for quite a while now and things can get really demoralising during such times, especially when you wait months for things to change.
Also, as human beings, we all need motivation from time to time to keep going even in the direction of our very dreams and passions. That’s just the way it is.
Different people get their motivations from different things. It might be encouraging words from your loved ones, or something/someone random you see on the street, a video you might watch on the internet, or one of the other million things.
No matter where it comes from, motivation serves as a catalyst in your journey. For me, some of Steve Jobs’ videos and interviews have the same effect and I would like to talk about one of them today.
Jobs’ Stanford Commencement Speech
Video from Stanford's YouTube page.
I have probably talked about this speech in some of my earlier posts, as I really find it one of his most profoundly motivating ones. He has always had great advices to give but for some reason, this is the one that I personally like the most.
There are many life advices we can learn from this video, like the importance of connecting dots and how we can do so only looking backwards and not forward. Another one is to find what you love and keep doing it and one more was to live and work your best everyday as if it was your last day.
But perhaps what touched me the most, was the statement “Stay hungry, stay foolish”. Steve had read this from somewhere else too and had taken it to heart in the way that he lived life.
Although only four words, that statement is very deep and you can learn a lot and benefit a lot if you could abide by it. I have tried to do the same throughout my life as well and I think everyone should try to follow this advice.
Life Is All About Learning
Sometimes I feel like the very purpose of life itself is to learn and pass it on. Isn’t that how every form of life exists today? Through the process of acquiring and transferring knowledge through billions of years?
Learning is fundamental to life and the message of ‘stay hungry’ tries to say the same. We should never think that we know enough because that would only make us too full of ourselves. Change is a fact of life and if we don’t continuously learn and adapt to a changing world, we’ll never get anywhere.
Also, by ‘staying foolish’, you tend to venture into unexplored avenues, because only a fool would do that logically speaking, right? As Einstein once said, "The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits."
As Steve liked saying, "The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." So, keep learning, and keep trying to change the world for the better by challenging the status quo!! That’s all that matters.
