Certificate of Occupancy
Here is what has been keeping me busy and offline. This is one half of a building that needs to pass building and safety inspection. Here are some before and after pictures of the smaller part of the building. Although I didn't take pictures of what it looked like prior to starting the painting process or the other larger side, I can tell you it was not pretty.
In one of the "after" pictures, you can see a row of lights. The electrical wiring and the lights, of which not all are visible in the pictures, had to be ran and installed prior to painting. We also had to wire in 4 commercial Exit signs. Then there were several outlets, on/off switches and electrical conduit that was also installed (not really visible in my poor photography).
There were also many holes and even chunks of drywall missing that had to be repaired before painting as well. Once that was all done then we prepped for paint. We had to remove many outlet covers and tape over the outlets. We also had to tape many switches as well as the split air conditioner and the floor. We also had to tape over some doors, door handles and anything else that was not to be painted.
Once it was painted and the paint had dried some, it was time to start the clean up process. First we had to clean up any painting materials like brushes and trays, while also cleaning the paint sprayer in order to prevent clogging. That is probably the most important thing when finishing a paint job using a paint sprayer. We removed all the taped, plastic and paper, and now we need final details.
The building is about 85% ready and is almost ready for another inspection. Each inspection costs money, so if it does not pass, the inspector will have to come out for another visit, and another payment. Hopefully we can get everything done correctly soon, so this one project can be over and on to the next one, because there is another one, although not as bad as this one.
I am sore, tired and sleepy, but glad this one is almost done. It has been a long two weeks.
