Hi my friends, today I'm going to tell you a great experience in my life. Actually im from Sri Lanka. It is a country which considered as a hot country. There is no snow. I came to Moscow Russia for my higher studies as a medical student. And it was the first time that I have seen snow ever in my life. Im not further talking about my life 😁😁😁😁. But I'm going to talk about my experience in moscow.
It is about ice skating. At first it was so difficult for me to stand up on the rink. But I just tried to walk on the rink first. Because a old russian lady told me to do so. ( Otherwise I would never do that 😂😂😂). It helped me a lot to get my balance on the rink. But it was slippery, though it was fun all the time I wanted to get out of the rink and tie my laces of the shoe, because it was little big for me. If you are going for skating make sure that you get the shoe size right.
It's never too late to get for skating. This is an exciting sport for children and adults, which does not require special skills. It's not so difficult to learn to stand on the ice in fact. In addition, you will automatically train the posture, develop the ability to coordinate movements by your own.
How to prepare for the first skating?
When you first come to the rink in your life, it is unlikely that you will prepare in advance. But if, you regularly decided to visit the ice rink, then you can not do without buying good skates. And then, skate blades require special care.
So, if you are hoping to buy scates for your own, there are three kinds of skates: ( make sure you buy the right one)
Skates designed for free skating - they are not created for hockey or figure skating. Sufficiently sharpened, soft, special protection of the ankle and toes are missing on them. It is considered as an ideal option for calm, measured riding without performing any complicated tricks.
For Figure skating - on these skates, on the toe of the blade there are denticles. Quite soft, they are designed to perform all sorts of gestures and turns. Rather, they are suitable for professionals.
For Ice Hockey - theyare build more lightly curly, in certain places they are additionally strengthened, so that when the puck hits, it helps to avoid injury.
How to properly wear skates?
Wear warm, but not thick socks. They need to be selected so that when you are in your casual shoes feel comfortable. As a rule, skates are selected for half a size more (and in some cases also for size).
As i mentioned early make sure you laced correctly, so that skate boot fits tightly to your foot. Pay attention - if they are loose or not when you moves, otherwise there is risk for losing your balance. But at the top of the shoe, the laces should not be tightened too much. You should be comfortable - do not squeeze. If the laces are properly tied, then you will not be able to practically tear off the heel from the sole of the ridge.
First steps on skates
In first minutes of entering to the rink, you must hold on to the fence. Just wait a few seconds to start and feel the ice.
The second stage is that you let go of the fence. Do not be afraid, the main thing in this matter is to get rid of this constraint. Wait a few more seconds.
The next step is the first steps. As a rule, beginners do not immediately glide, but simply going on horseback. This is considered a reasonable solution, because you must catch the balance on the ice. Even if you fall - it's okay. Try and get rid of fear. Only in this way you will get the spirit for the most important stage.
And, finally, when you are completely ready, do the first slip. Tranfer your body weight to the moving to leg. Then step your other leg and repeat the process.
Make sure you do these too:
- It is necessary to keep your legs equally together, feet are parallel to each other.
- The back is flat, knees are bend, your right leg is now slightly turned around.
- It is necessary to push off the inner rib of the right skate, during the push, transfer the weight of the body completely to the left leg.
- You should go forward on your left bent leg (do not straighten the knee).
- Pull the right towards right left (should not touch the ice right foot in this time)
- Roll on both legs forward (the main thing is that on the toe of the ridge, the denticles do not touch the ice).
- Now for the left foot, repeat all the above steps.
And one more recommendation - forget that, under your feet you have ice and blades for skating. It is necessary to abstract, to reduce the excessive importance of all that is happening. You will be surprised at how quickly your wise body adapts to the new conditions.
How to turn on the rink?
It is logical that you can not go straight on the rink all the time. When necessary you have to turn. With your right foot repulse, move forward the shoulder, and direct the body towards the turn. The inner leg (the one that is closer to the turn) during the turn needs a little weaker repulsion.
Braking
The easiest way to brake on the rink is to get to the fnce and brake. However, if somebody eats somewhere in the middle of the rink and suddenly yoi need to stop, you can do it this way, push off and roll forward until you lose speed.
But specific actions are required for emergency braking. For beginners the most widespread method is called "plow". Spread your legs slightly wider than your shoulders while moving, knees bend strongly and slightly push back the body. It's not so hard really, as it might seem at first glance. Try the plow near the curb to begin with, make sure the correctness of the leg movements.
