It is the last week of the holiday and my oldest son has this last week a sky-gliding course. As some of you might know from my previous posts he wants to become a pilot really bad. therefore we thought, because he is still to young for a pilot education, it will be a good idea to start with a sky-glide course.
So today was his first day. My wife and I both had to work so my wife brought him this morning and I picked him up afterwards. When I arrived this afternoon at the airport ( a small one, called Teuge and it is near Apeldoorn). I saw already three sky-glide planes in a distance, unfortunate my cellphone couldn't zoom in very good.. a bit sandy image.
My son already purchased the book they used during the theoretical classes, and he has studied already before attending the course, so he was well prepared :)
I was a but early so could see a bit of the flying, the starts and the landings (I have recorded it as good as I could haha), you can see it in the video.
When they pull the plane into the air it has explosive start, within some seconds (my son told me) the speed was already 160 KM per hour, that's a accelaration isn't it haha..
After the lessons they had to bring the planes to the hangars and clean them. It's all part of the job and he did it with pleasure.
This is your captain walking :)
He made three flights during the day where he learned steering the plane, increasing and decreasing hight and to keep the plain straight. Not bad for a first day isn't it.
When I was waiting for my son in the car the para-plane dropped some parachute jumpers which I try to catch on camera
Tomorrow is his second day, I am looking forward to what he is going to learn . If everthing is going well he may fly a plane alone (with a instructor in the plane too of course) by the end of the week... Cool...
Have a great evening,
Peter
