Some men buy themselves a Ferrari,
or - if they're in crypto - a Lamborghini.
Not me. In fact, I don't even have a driver's license.
It might seem, to those who just get to know me and hear about my life, like I'm in some sort of midlife crisis...
After all, I am 40 and single. I don't own a house ( am renting one, in Portugal, but am not even there ), I don't have a day job ( am a writer and crypto investor ) and I am not sure what my next step in life is going to be.
Then again, if you've known me for a while, that is pretty much me in a nutshell.
Let's say that I take my time for things.
And now, even more than ever before,
I follow my intuition and try not to rush into things when I'm not feeling it.
Yesterday, I entered a guitar shop to put some new strings on a guitar that I had found in the bungalow that I'm currently staying in.
Lately, I have felt quite a strong urge to start playing guitar again. For your information: I had classical guitar lessons, from my 17th to my 19th - over 20 years ago.
Suffice to say, that it felt like that guitar was there, in this bungalow. with a reason: waiting for me.
The thing was totally out of tune
and, while trying to tune it, I broke one of its strings.
So, yesterday, I decided to go into town, visit a guitar shop and get the strings replaced.
While doing so, I realized, not for the first time, that it would be fun to own an ukulele, as it's affordable, way smaller than a normal guitar and thus very portable and that it's a challenge, overall, to learn to play a new instrument and I like these kinds of challenges.
Then, after returning home, carrying both a guitar and an ukulele, I browsed the Internet a little and later invested a single dollar in 13 video lessons by what seemed to be a very good ukulele teacher.
And then, today, I decided to invest a lot more ( but still less than I paid for my ukelele itself and very little compared to the music lessons I had back in the day ) in follow up lessons, to actually become more than the beginnerest of beginners at ukelele playing.
I also asked my family for a contribution to cover these costs and/ or the ukulele ( as my birthday will be in 5 days ).
What I need to do now, is to slow myself down,
as I tend to get superexcited when I am about to learn something new ( that I've chosen myself ) and then want to level up at a crazy pace.
That's not necessary.
I also want to make sure, that I do not totally forget about my intention to focus on finishing my book, something I wrote about in my previous posts.
Whatever's the case, I am happy to now own an ukulele
and practicing this instrument/ playing around with it will be a nice distraction in the coming months.
Sending you a musical hug!
