Well, opening up does help. But if nobody has the time to listen, who's going to be the first to do it? And it's not like you're burdening others - that happens when it's only you talking and never listening - it's more like taking turns talking about your troubles and then listening to the others' problems.
If we as a society would be spending more time together and being true and open to each other, we wouldn't need therapists. ;) But as far as I can see it, we're being more and more open with our smartphones and less and less with our fellows and friends. Which is downright scary.
I've read about a tribe somewhere - don't remember where - which have an interesting habit. Whenever someone from the tribe doesn't feel well, all the people from the tribe gather around him or her and ask what is it that he or she hasn't talked about?
I do believe that most of our affections and diseases start from the brain. If the brain is fucked, oh well, we're fucked. :)
