You may have seen this coming as I've written about him before. I discovered Terry Pratchett over 20 years ago when I found Pyramids in our local library. I tracked down others and devoured them all. I loved his humorous twist on the fantasy genre. Since then he published many more books and we acquired most of them. The collection is missing a few. I notice that some are fading a bit on the spines as they have been there a long time. They are some of the books we would never part with.
My wife and daughter also got into them. My wife in particular has reread most of them. She's particularly fond of those featuring watchman Samuel Vimes. The later books are more parodies of aspects of modern life, but use the same Discworld setting. Magic is always around, but is used in interesting ways. The Tiffany Aching series was aimed at a younger audience, but is great for adults too. I've read some of his others that were supposed to be for kids. Good stories work for any age.
I've read Terry say that he doesn't recommend you start with the earliest books. The order is not generally critical, but some characters do keep cropping up. Moving Pictures and Small Gods are a couple of my favourites. Just grab one and dive in.
We have a selection of comics and other editions.
Some of the books have been filmed, but I find that some of the humour is lost. A lot of it is in his descriptions. I need to watch these again anyway.
I'm currently reading some of his non-fiction. I found this in a charity shop recently. I do keep an eye out for any books we are missing.
