Only a small percentage of the people of the world have an interest in cryptocurrencies. We do believe it has an important role in the future, but when will the future arrive?
In the start, the Internet was only used by a few people. These were the nerds working on the platform, developing tools for the platform, and using it. But, then the Internet went mainstream. What made the Internet go mainstream? Was it the websites? Was it the easy way to get information? It is probably a combination of many things, but today we live in a world in which a life without the Internet is impossible to imagine. Will we ever get to the same place with cryptocurrencies?
The fact that there are enthusiasts in love with the different cryptocurrencies and the technology behind it, doesn't make it mainstream. Cryptocurrencies will go mainstream the day people use it, simply because it makes their lives easier, and because it is a part of daily life.
Today, cryptocurrencies are not necessary for someone to live a happy life. They can easily buy their groceries, do their daily exercising, travel the world, and go to the toilet without using any cryptocurrencies. Some airlines support payments with cryptocurrencies, but why would someone pay with cryptocurrencies when they can pay with their normal payment card online instead? If it ain't cheaper, who bothers?
When will cryptocurrencies go mainstream?
I believe cryptocurrencies will go mainstream at the moment it solves problems in a better, easier, and cheaper way than we are used to in the world today. Is there anything pointing in that direction today? Is there anything that shows us that cryptocurrencies might be heading in that direction?
Most cryptocurrencies on the market have nothing to do with real life products that will make the technology go mainstream. But, there are some exceptions out there, and I will describe ONE such cryptocurrency that has the potential of leading the way in making cryptos go mainstream.
A cryptocurrency making it cheaper, better, and easier!
There are some currencies out there that fit into this category, but there is one that I especially believe will do a giant job in this area. The name of the token is LOC, which is an abbreviation for LockTrip.
I said cryptocurrencies will go mainstream at the moment what they offer is cheaper than what you usually get. But, it isn't enough with lower prices, if it is very complicated.
Imagine sitting at home, planning your next trip to Budapest, the capital of Hungary. You are reading about the attractions in the town, you have ordered your plane ticket, and now it is time to book your hotel. You visit different booking sites and discover that you want to stay in the Marriott Budapest. So far, so good! But, then you hear rumors about a booking site named LockTrip. It is supposed to be about 20% cheaper than all the sites you have visited so far.
You decide to visit the LockTrip website, and you quickly find out that it is true. What's up? Is this possible? Is it a scam? You read around for a few minutes and discover that the platform is built on the blockchain technology, and somehow they let you book your room, without any commission fees at all. You do not really care about the technology, but you love the price.
After selecting your room, you move on towards the payment process. Payments have to be made using the LOC tokens, but since you do not have any, you simply use your VISA card to pay for the booking. In the background, the money you pay is converted into LOC tokens, which then pays for the room, but you don't care about that either... you are happy to have saved more than 100 Dollars by booking your stay at LockTrip instead of the other booking sites out there.
Cryptocurrencies are going mainstream
This is what will make cryptocurrencies go mainstream. As people get used to using services like LockTrip, they will get used to the entire crypto-world. It will turn more and more natural to pay with tokens for services. And then, sometime in the future, the dice will turn around. The natural will be to pay with cryptocurrencies, and paying with Dollars and Euros will be the strange thing. But, that is still quite a lot of years ahead of us!
