The Trip
This edit is from my month long vacation in BC this summer. It was the last day of my trip, I had just hurt my ankle, but I felt good enough since the swelling hadn't really started yet, to do some more grip runs. Grip runs means there is no need to slide to control speed, so that usually means they are mellower. This was not mellower.
The road is called Beaver Lake rd, and luckily it doesn't get to much traffic since it is a dead end at the top, so it mostly just gets a few fishers, and off roaders coming up once in a while. The corners are all have clear visibility, so it's easy to spot a corner so you can take the inside of the corners, or go strait through the chicane.
It took me a couple runs to gather the courage, and confidence to go as fast as you see in the video. With pushing these kinds of speeds it's always a bit scary since you don't know if your board will get speed wobbles at a certain speed or not, as there is no way to test how you setup a board other than to ride it. Luckily since this was the end of a month long trip, I had plenty of time to tweak my setup, and really hone in my riding before hitting this hill. Just the day before this, I actually hit 87 km/h on a much rougher road, so my only worry really was about the condition of my ankle holding up at the higher speeds.
Camera Gear
This was shot using a Insta360 OneX, and a Sony Action Cam. The 360 camera as you can see, is very versatile, since in post edit I can actually point the view wherever I like, allowing me to create multiple angles from one recording. Many of the things I capture with it are not even noticed by me until I review the footage, and I can look at what is happening behind me. Where as so often I miss things with my directional action camera because I have to keep an eye on where I'm skating. That being said, the quality of the shots suffer a bit since the pixels are stretched over the whole 360 degrees, and cutting a small section out of that for a video means the subjects have to be close to look good.
