I am starting this series in order to raise awareness about a topic that has concerned me for a long time. Was there a civilization of which there is little memory? We have been conditioned to believe, through the traditional, mainstream academic system, that civilization started about 5000 years ago, almost simultaneously in Egypt, Mesopotamia, India and China, after agriculture was invented and long lasting human settlements became possible. Before then, humans were nomads, hunter gatherers living in the Stone Age. The name of this Age, divided between the Paleolithic and the Neolithic periods described the stage of development of mankind, which was limited to develop stone artifacts and utensils.
In the folklore of many cultures, there are references to a great civilization which existed many years ago. There are also legends regarding a great catastrophe, a deluge, which wiped out this civilization and forced humans to start again. 2 examples about this are the Noah's Arc story and the myth of Atlantis. However, there are also constructions that defy explanation within the current mainstream model. Gobekli Tepe in Turkey seems out of place by being more than 12000 years old and the Pyramids of Giza cannot be adequately explained by its construction by humans just emerging from the Neolithic period. Moreover, there is geological evidence of a cataclysmic (or a series of) event about 12000 years ago. There are maps that are out of place with a progressive development of cartography and there is linguistic evidence that seems to be out of place with the current understanding of the development of modern languages.
In order to mark this topic in the blog, I will use the picture I created for an earlier series on Atlantis. It represents the city of the concentric water circles that Plato described in Timaeus and Critias.
